What Documents Do I Need for a Uganda Visa?

Travellers applying for a Uganda visa must provide documents supporting their identity and purpose of travel. The exact checklist depends on the visa category, nationality and circumstances of the journey.

Applicants should follow the document list displayed by Uganda’s official Electronic Visa and Permit Application System.

Passport Biography Page

Upload a clear copy of the page containing your photograph and personal information.

Your passport should generally have at least six months of validity. The name, passport number, nationality and date of birth entered on the application must match the passport exactly.

Recent Passport-Size Photograph

A recent, clear passport photograph may be required. It should show your face properly and should not be blurred, heavily edited or taken from another identity document.

Yellow-Fever Vaccination Certificate

A valid yellow-fever vaccination certificate is commonly required for travel to Uganda. Upload a clear copy and carry the original certificate when travelling.

Travellers with medical concerns about vaccination should obtain professional medical and official entry guidance before departure.

Travel Itinerary or Return Ticket

You may be asked to provide evidence of your travel plans, such as:

  • A return or onward flight reservation

  • Intended arrival and departure dates

  • Places you expect to visit

  • Details of onward travel

The dates should be consistent with the information entered on your application.

Accommodation Details

Provide your hotel reservation or the address where you will stay in Uganda. If someone is hosting you, an invitation letter and information about the host may be requested.

Supporting Letter

The required letter depends on the purpose of travel. It may include:

  • An invitation letter from a host

  • A business invitation

  • A medical appointment letter

  • A conference invitation

  • Evidence of onward travel for transit

The letter should clearly explain who is inviting you, why you are travelling and where you will stay.

Additional Documents for Other Visa Categories

A transit, multiple-entry or East African Tourist Visa may require additional evidence.

For example, Uganda’s immigration authority lists a passport copy, recent photograph, yellow-fever certificate, return ticket and travel itinerary among the requirements for an East African Tourist Visa. Additional documents may still be requested during processing. Official East African Tourist Visa requirements
